Metadata is data that contains information about characteristics of other data - in our case it is a digital package insert for our object, so to speak.
This information helps us and other users to (re)find the right content for the right purpose. The possible metadata can vary from system to system, depending on the configuration, as they are often adapted or extended for special usage scenarios. For example, the metadata in a system for geologists may look different from that of a repository used by lawyers.

Tools for managing metadata in edu-sharing
Metadata of objects are normally entered when saving the object.
After uploading your document or after adding the reference to an external resource, a corresponding mask opens. Of course, this information can also be edited later.
The input / adjustment of the metadata is done in the workspace. When saving documents in connected systems such as Moodle, the workspace is displayed for this purpose.

"Quick Edit" - The tool for easy assignment of a selection of metadata and approval or licensing.
This tool allows you to enter or modify a selection of the most common metadata such as "material type" and "keywords". In addition, the tool includes functions for easy release of objects and licensing. more about the "Quick Edit" tool
No additional metadata can be assigned when saving objects via WebDAV. However, the function for metadata inheritance supports you here.
