Creating users

As a system administrator, you can create users in edu-sharing with the help of the user management tool.

Organization administrators do not have this right - they may only add existing users to groups/organizations.

Creating a user within an organization automatically makes him/her a member of the organization group.

For larger edu-sharing installations users are usually not maintained directly in edu-sharing.
Here mostly central user management systems are used, which are linked to edu-sharing. These are then used in parallel for authentication and authorization with other systems such as e-mail and calendar.

On this page:

Creating users with admin rights

In edu-sharing there is one central system administrator account. This user has full rights in the system. There is no second user with similar rights.

Below this account users can get admin rights for organizations. To do so, create a user within the desired organization or assign him/her to the desired organization.

Now add the user of the admin group to the desired organization. This usually has the name of the organization and "_Admins".
