Metadata Inheritance

Metadata inheritance is a feature that simplifies collecting objects in edu-sharing enormously. With its help you can select an object as a metadata template for a folder. All objects that are saved from now on in the appropriate folder, inherit the metadata of the document. This save you from the hassle of re-entering the descriptive data and is especially practical when storing big numbers of documents via WebDAV.

opening the view of the metadata template

A window opens in which you can enter the metadata to be passed on. The switch for activating inheritance is activated by default.

By default, the "Keywords" and "Description" fields are available. The scope of the fields can be adjusted by an administrator.

All objects that are now saved in the folder inherit the metadata of the template file.
